My tomato plants are coming along nicely, as is everything else, except for the blue asters which never grew.  I will have some nice delphiniums, rudbeckia and white Maltese cross to plant next month.  The fan in the background blows on the plants from time to time to make them sturdier for when they have to move outside into the real world and face the wind.  It works amazingly well.

My mood is back to normal, thank god, and I feel so much better.

Yesterday was Jack's birthday.  He got a handheld microscope which he loves, along with a robot that needs to be built by poppa and some clothes.  I bought him a Messi hoodie because he loves Lionel Messi, and all things soccer.  He had a good day, not too overwhelming.  I fear Saturday will be overwhelming with a nerf gun birthday party, but that's part of birthdays too.

Robot has been built by poppa and is ready for Jack when he gets home from school.

Jack also his pediatrician yesterday and his growth is declining so she told him he needs to eat more.  He listens to her so I'm hopeful he will eat more.  He rarely eats any lunch because, "I don't have enough time."  He wants to be outside is what he means.  She told him that not eating will affect his height in the long run and that caught his attention.  Poppa is 6'5", so that's his goal.

Not much else going on. Walked the dogs, had blood work done, and bought groceries.  I'm off to poop scoop in the back yard.  Try not to be jealous:)

  1. You know what I'm a tad jealous about...I want to be 6'5" ha.

    1. You don't want to be that tall, you don't fit anywhere. Airplane seats are too small, beds are too short, and he hits his head on ceiling fans.

  2. Happy Birthday to Jack! Don't veggies make you grow taller? That's what I was always told when I was a kid!

    1. Jack is a picky eater but he's also an ADHD med and it suppresses appetite. He's eating breakfast though now which is good.

  3. I admire anyone who can grow plants from seeds. Mine would all poop out at some point. I had a fan blowing too.

    1. Did you use a UV light? Because that has made all the difference.

  4. Birthdays are so exciting for kids! (not so much for adults) It sounds like he's already gotten some excellent gifts. I suspect that my grandsons will be on the short side due to genetics and a couple of them better enjoy their hair while they have it. ;)

    1. Too funny, about the hair. Jack is my husband's step grandson and I don't have the heart to explain genetics to him yet:)

    1. So much better, it's amazing. It's like when you're sick and if feels like forever, and then you get better and you realize how good life is again.

  6. I'm pleased Jack's birthday went so well.
Most kids tend to overeat if anything. I hope his appetite does improve.
I assume the nerf gun party is not in your home. It sounds like a few minutes of fun before tears.

    1. No, the nerf gun party is not at my house thank god. It's two hours at a facility. There will be wildly overexcited children, cake and balloons, running and shooting and then we get to leave. Yay!

  7. I'm glad you're feeling better. And Jack's birthday is successful so far. My son had a microscope at that age and studied everything he could get under it. Great gift.

    1. I love the microscope too. I've been looking at dead fungus gnats with the microscope, quite disturbing.

  11. I'm glad you're feeling better now. It certainly makes life easier doesn't it. And happy birthday Jack. I do hope he listens to the doctor. My little grandson is like a beanpole because he never stops running but I'm sure he'll eat when he thinks about it too!

    1. Jack is a picky eater, combined with the ADHD meds, makes it hard to get the calories into him, but we're working on it.

  12. Ah...the joys of having dogs! Everyday I do a poop scoop journey, but now I have my trusty tRump and JD Vance shit bags! Happy Birthday to Jack! Glad you are feeling better.

  13. Yet another reason I will never have another dog. I feel as if I've dealt with enough shit in my life already.
Happy birthday to Jack! I hope his birthday party is fun and fine and not TOO overwhelming. For you or for him.
So glad you're feeling more yourself. Hurray!

    1. I'm glad I feel human again too. The dog shit will get picked up, but it looks so overwhelming when the snow melts. One bag at a time I keep telling myself.

  14. O, yes. That's what I miss about not having dogs anymore! Hurrah for feeling better and that Jack's birthday went well. It's good the rambunctious nerf gun party will be at a rented facility.

    1. I would pick up the dog poop over the winter but it disappears under the snow so quickly. It's overwhelming when the snow first melts but then I remember I don't have to pick it all up at once:)

  15. I can't imagine not eating lunch, even now! When I was a kid I ate pretty much everything I could get my hands on.

I'm glad you're feeling better. Your seedlings look amazing! My cosmos have sprouted but nothing yet from the zinnias or the sunflowers.

I would plant more seeds but I have limited indoor space. I didn't bother starting any tomato plants last year and just bought them, worst plants ever. This year I'm starting them again.

  17. Happy birthday Jack!
And the fan to help with hardening off is brilliant! If the Asters never came up at all maybe they needed a winter cold treatment before they would germinate. If you bought them in a packet they should have been okay, but if you collected them and they are wild, many of the natives need that. Protects them from coming up in the fall and being winter killed. I can't remember the name now of that process, I had it and it floated away as I typed happy birthday Jack. 🙃

    1. Stratification is the word you're looking for but these seeds didn't need to stratified, which is why I bought them. Oh well:)

    2. Thank you for the word! (Maybe the vendor just thought they didn't need stratification 😉)

  18. If Jack’s worried about height, but not hungry, maybe he’d be amenable to *drinking* his calories (milk, not booze, of course!). I haaaated milk as a kid and yes, ended up being short as a result!
