We went on a short trip to Jasper this weekend.  Pyramid Lake and Pyramid mountain.

Also Pyramid Lake.

Medicine Lake.

 Athabasca River.

Some of the devastation from last summer's wildfire

  2. Beautiful photos, Pixie! Still lots of snow and ice hanging on in the mountains, I see. The wildfire areas are still devastating to see.

  3. I was just thinking "oh how pretty, I can see why they call that Pyramid Mountain" and then the pictures of the destruction of the wildfire. Oh my, I'd seen it on the news but those pictures make it more real somehow!

  4. Wow! Such a vulnerable and beautiful wild place. Especially Athabasca River.

  5. How lovely. I remember seeing Athabasca River. Colder countries take much longer to recover from forest fires, fires that are abnormal. Nothing to do with climate change though, of course.

  9. Fantastic scenery. I wondered when I started the post whether you'd see fire damage, and of course you did. Mount Edith Cavell needs a new sign!

  10. That is so gorgeous! I'm already dreading fire season here especially with the idiot-in-chief pulling back resources.

  11. We were lucky enough to go to Jasper years ago. It was one of the best trips we ever took.

  12. Goodness - someone above said that cold climates take longer to recover and I suppose that must be true. When we have bushfires, as soon as there is moisture there is new growth. I don't know where Jasper is - I have seen a few turn-offs for Wee Jasper but not ever been there either!

  14. Those photos are amazing. Like Steve, I was wondering if you'd include some of the fire damage.

  15. Thanks for sharing these images Pixie. Mother Nature has a way of healing damaged places but where there have been wildfires that healing process is painfully slow.

  16. Oh I miss Jasper...not sure when we'll get there again.
Also, what a cold Spring in Alberta, eh?
