Kids always seem to love the beach and it's very good for them to build things and muck around in the sand. I wonder if there is such a thing as sand therapy? I love going to the Big Ocean (what my kids called the Pacific versus Puget Sound/the Salish Sea) and am immediately calmed by watching the waves and the feel of the sand. Jack looks like he loves the water! It's funny what the young ones like best--often small things and not the bigger excursions.
Looks like a fun time! I was going to say "good thing you didn't go to Jasper" but I see it was part of your plans, so sorry that's off now. I hope they can save the townsite but things do not look promising right now.
Too bad about Jasper, but looks like you're packing in a lot of activity anyway! I always loved it as a kid when we stayed in a motel with a pool, and ditto playing in sand!
