After the fire, fireweed. Mother Nature will recover in Jasper. Our friend lost his house, burned to the ground but he's ok. He said he's got, love, family, community and insurance:)
I made the mistake of responding to my sister and that blew up in my face. That's twice now, I won't be doing that again. I'm feeling down today but I know it will pass.
Glad your friend is safe and has insurance. Sorry to hear things are difficult with your sister. Sheesh, family, eh?
ReplyDeleteFamily, sigh. It's just so hard.
DeleteThat is very good, sadness is on me. You tried with your sister. Sorry it didn't work. Losing your home and all in it is a trauma beyond mt comprehension.
ReplyDeleteOur friend is ok and his home can be rebuilt. My sister dragged her twin into it as well, so now the two of them are angry with me and won't talk to me. Could be worse:)
DeleteI am sorry to hear about your friend's house. I like that writing about sadness.
ReplyDeleteThe sadness is slowly leaving me and I can feel it less and less everyday.
DeleteThat's terrible about the house and discouraging about your sister's reaction. It could have been an open door but now she's slammed it shut. In French "getting an emotion" verbs are reflexive so you do them to yourself. I try to remember that when I become angry: I'm allowing that emotion. (but sometimes we have to give in to the emotion first in order to work through it and let it pass)
ReplyDeleteEmotions are hard but the sadness is wafting away. I spent the afternoon yesterday with Jack at the spray park, children and sunshine helped.
DeleteNature will recover, that part of nature that doesn't include humans.
ReplyDeletePadraig O'Tuama has a really wonderful weekly blog on substack, easy to find.
I'll have to look for him, thanks Sabine.
DeleteI'm sorry about your friend's house, and about your sister! At least you know you made an attempt.
ReplyDeleteI did, I tried and I won't do that again.
DeleteThe earth always reclaims itself. Homes and possessions, not so much. But good on your friend, knowing what's really important in the end.
ReplyDeleteI love the saying and have saved it for when the need arises . . .
I often have need of that reminder. I wonder sometimes how long it would take mother nature to return my home to the earth. Not as long as I think.
DeleteI like that Irish staying. It makes sense. Sorry to read about your friend's house and the issues with your sister. Families can sure have their issues. I know mine certainly does.
ReplyDeleteMy family has a lot of issues, mostly with me.
DeleteBeautiful picture.
ReplyDeleteThanks, that one actually got published in a magazine.
