Life goes on. Jack is sweet and contrary, all at the same time. Work was kicking my ass but I'm starting to get the hang of the new computer system. However, I have overdone it with my walking and now my knee is sore, so back to the lovely physiotherapist who gave me exercises and hope. Lucy is nearing the end of her days sadly and that's breaking my heart.
Life goes on is so very true, and with it comes both loss and new joy. I'm sorry that Lucy is nearing the end of her time. Jack won't remember a whole lot about her as an adult. Who he will remember is "Lucy 2" or whatever you name the new puppy that will come into your lives. That dog will be the one he helps to raise and train as time goes on. The one that will be a part of his boyhood years and adventures and growing to adulthood.
ReplyDeleteIf it's not one body part, it's another! Argghh. It's hard to watch pets (or people) wind down toward death. I saw it with my husband, then my dad and now my mom. It's a normal cycle--but not pleasant.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it hurts. We're getting there with Olga too so I know what you mean. I just try to focus on what a good life she's had and how much we love her. (She's not THAT close -- maybe a year? But who knows.)
ReplyDeleteSorry about the knee. Argh! Hopefully it's just a matter of your body readjusting to work.
I'm so glad to hear your voice again. Thank you for giving us these words and pictures to know a tiny bit how your life is now.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, it does very much hurt when we know a beloved pet is near the end. They ask so little of us while giving so much.
I'm sorry about Lucy. It is certainly the downside of loving the dear animals. It rips at the heart. Jack is looking tall!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the time you have left with your sweet dog.
ReplyDelete37paddington: I’m sorry to hear about sweet Lucy. But glad that the Jack news is good. Take care of that knee, and you.
ReplyDeleteNo rest for the wicked. Stay well and luck after the knee!
ReplyDeleteLittle boys are so gorgeous. How lovely that Lucy can gently wind down and leave without pain and suffering. You will miss her, of course, but you will have fond memories.
ReplyDeleteDon't push that knee too far.
In that last picture, Lucy certainly does look like an old dog. I feel pretty sure that you and The Big Guy will have given her a calm and loving home.
ReplyDeleteJack is no longer a baby is he - that's very much a little boy I'm looking at. And how sweet is that. And that's also a lovely picture of Lucy - another sweet being I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to see your blog post come up in my reading list. Truly!
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet photos, and I'm so sorry that beloved Jack is dying. It's so so hard to lose our pets.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you again, Jack has turned into a little boy, much taller. Poor Lucy, always hard to lose a beloved family member.
ReplyDeleteThank you for keeping us in the loop!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm the teacher from long ago days at Eastview. It's a real treat to connect with former students. You bring back some good memories. I'd completely forgotten about the Tea House. Now if I only knew the name??? I see you have a long history on your blog. Please let me know who you are!
