Heidi at the dog park.

We've had a lot of rain and huge black clouds.  The rain came down so hard yesterday while we were on the highway that was hard to see and scary.  The black clouds match my mood.  I'm still tired and feeling down.  I'm going to take the dogs for a walk shortly and I'm hoping that will help lift my mood.

The big guy had his cataract surgery this morning and they gave him an ativan.  He's sleeping on the couch right now and I'm sure he'll stay there for most of the day.  All went well and he is the proud owner of a new lens.

Jack came back to us yesterday.  Poor guy was so tired but he slept well and went to daycare today, happy as a clam.  This weekend he'll get a chance to visit with his little brother and Miss Katie.  Hopefully that's a good thing.  Katie's kind of on his shit list right now because she laughed at him.

My brother in law is coming again next week for a visit which will be nice.  A chance for the two brothers to visit their father together.  My father in law is doing well, now that his UTI has been successfully and correctly treated.  Time will tell but for now he's enjoying my homemade cheesecake with bumbleberry coulis.

I'm still on holidays and will need to see the podiatrist before I go back to work.  My foot is starting to feel better which is nice.  This morning I didn't even use my cane when I got up out of bed.  Progress.

  1. That's great news about your foot! That must make your activities much easier. I'm glad that Jack came back in a positive frame of mind. Cataract surgery is so good these days. I had two eyes done (one at a time) and it made a huge difference. Hope the visits go well!

  2. Hope that you will feel better emotionally soon. You live in such a beautiful place and your photos celebrate that beauty and you look for humor, both of which work to balance the many challenges in your life. I always feel a sense of relief when Jack comes back to you and the Big Guy. Good to know that the time away from work has helped your foot to heal. Sending love.

    1. I am feeling better emotionally, thank you. I love taking photos almost as much as I love walking. I haven't had enough of either these past four months.

  3. Progress, indeed!
And honestly, I frequently go into the bathroom and forget why I am there. Not when I actually have to use it but when I was going to get something or grab the towels to wash or empty the trash. But while I'm there I generally figure I might as well pee. So, the trip's not wasted.
I'm glad that Jack seems okay and that your Big Guy got his surgery done.

  4. You have been through a lot over the past few months when you think about it. It is normal to feel flat. Take it easy and be kind to yourself. You give so much of yourself to others. Treat the foot to a gentle walk. Give Jack a hug. Ignore the big guy when he sees all the dust with his new lens (joking!).

    1. The big guy would never notice dust or dirt. I need to take better care of myself.

  5. Well, I have never heard of bumbleberries before! Perhaps it was a mistake and you meant to write "bumblebee coulis"? I have never heard the term "shit list" before either. It sounds more deeply felt than a mere "hit list"! I hope that The Big Guy's recovery is swift and smooth.

    1. Bumbleberry is a mixture of equal parts strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. It is divine.

Truly, you've never heard of a shit list? Have you been living under a rock Mr. Pudding.

  6. I am happy to read that TBG's brother is coming and that they can both visit their Dad. It's always amazing how badly a UTI affects older people.

    1. UTI's kill people, something people don't realize. Just like not pooping kills people. I'm looking forward to seeing my brother in law again. I like him; he swears like a mofo.

  7. Glad that the surgery went well and Big Guy is recovery....and you too!

A good friend, otherwise quite healthy, ignored a UTI and went into sepsis. She died in her early 60's for no good reason at all. I guess that it doesn't feel quite the same as we age but there are many signs. I hope everyone knows them!

  9. I'm catching up with my Blog Reading and Love that Meme! Glad the Big Guy has had a successful Surgery to restore Vision... it can make a huge difference. Had to Smile that Miss Katie is on Jack's shit list over feeling offended that she laughed at him tho'. I'm sure he'll reach an Age where he understands her Purity of Emotion. The G-Kid Force did with their Mom after she'd been here a while and they had a better Understanding of her Condition and limitations, so now they aren't as upset or guarded with her and their relationship is coming along and it makes me Grateful that they can bond in some capacity and with some acceptance.
