It was another busy weekend. There was a short walk at the dog park with Jack and Heidi. How did he get so grown up? We talked about Lucy and her coughing which is getting much worse. I told him that Lucy was sick and dying. When his poppa got in the car, Jack said, "So, Lucy is dying."
Lucy looking pretty good for a dying dog but she is dying. She can't get better and her congestive heart failure is getting much worse, even with medication.
We replanted my rubber tree plant, seen on the right of the photo, in a much bigger pot. Of course I ended up with dirt and bits of ceiling everywhere. The vacuum was brought out and Jack wanted to do it. It also have a fiddle leaf ficus and another ficus that continue to grow and will need larger pots and a spot in front of a sunny window one day. For now they sit on the kitchen table, facing southeast, enjoying the morning sun.
Most of my plants are planted now. I'm still waiting for my echinacea and my lupines to get larger before I plant those.
Mostly I'm just tired. I have another endometrial infection and I'm taking antibiotics for that, so maybe that's the cause of the fatigue. I have most of June off so I'm looking forward to that.
Thank you for the jokes. I can always use new material for my patients.
Oh, I LOVE that meme! "Ennui" is a word that I love to say. Not necessarily to feel, however. I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Doing all that you do and keeping up with that beautiful little man is A LOT. Good that you're going to get time off.
ReplyDeleteAnd your house is so cozy. I love your wood floors.
It is a very good word and quite descriptive. Jack gives us more than we could ever give him.
DeleteJack! Such a lovable boy. Growing quickly. Enjoying his life with you and his poppa Happy to hear that you will have most of June off work.
ReplyDeleteHe's such a funny guy. Introduces himself and the dog to everyone he meets.
DeleteI like that photo of Jack from behind. It is pretty rare to take pictures of one's loved ones from behind. I think it would have been even more effective if we could have seen all of Heidi in front of him. I like the way he is nonchalantly striding with his hands in his pockets.
ReplyDeleteThe photo reminds me if what he may look like when he's my age.
DeleteHeidi would not comply with my artistic sensibilities
Wow, just like that, Jack has grown into a boy. That's a lovely photo of him.
ReplyDeleteIt happened so fast, only three years:)
DeleteLove the meme too! Reminds me of the Camus and Sartre I had to read all through college. Our babies do grow up so fast! I'm glad you can take time for yourself in June although it sounds like it will be busy with Jack, dogs and planting.
ReplyDeleteI never read those authors. In my twenties I decided I needed to read the classics, si I did that for a few years.
DeleteIt will be nice to have to do as I please
That is a gorgeous photo of not so wee Jack. I love how all of a sudden they become little boys. Look after yourself. You need to be well for your time off.
ReplyDeleteHe's getting so big so fast. And thank you.
DeleteAnd how did you end up with ceiling amongst the dirt?
ReplyDeleteWe have something called popcorn ceilings here and when I lifted the plant up it hit the ceiling and scaped some of the ceiling off. It's comes off easily if you touch it.
DeleteThat is the cutest damn photo of little Jack. He IS getting so big, though!
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of your boys. I remember them when they were so young and now they're grown men.
DeleteOH no, I didn't know that about Lucy. I have to talk to you about her portrait -- I have a question about the photo that you sent me (a long time ago; sorry for my procrastination). I'm going to email you this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to your email.
DeletePoor Lucy. She does look pretty chipper, all things considered. We have a fiddle-leafed fig that's as tall as the ceiling and it needs a new pot but I'm just not sure what to do with it! It's so BIG!
ReplyDeleteLucy keeps going but her cough is almost constant now. From what I've read, when she starts coughing up bloody, frothy sputum, it's time.
DeleteI hope having most of June off gives you a much needed chance to recuperate!
ReplyDeleteIt will be nice to have the time off. The trick is to stay off my feet. At least at work now, I'm forced to sit at a desk which I hate.
DeleteThat cartoon made me laugh - reminded me of Garry Larson; I miss his output and sense we could do with more of it in difficult times. Sorry to hear about your dog; I would be bereft I expect.
ReplyDeleteI loved "The Far Side". I didn't realize he retired the strip in 1995. He had such a twisted, wonderful take on the world.
DeleteThat boy looks great, like my father in law out on a stroll with the dogs, his hands in his pockets. Whistling?
ReplyDeleteJack tries to whistle but he can't yet. It's so cute.
DeleteLittle man. I wonder who he's emulating? Love the photo.
ReplyDeleteOMG he is such a little Man now, with hands in his pockets during his Walk and all, how adorable is that!!! And Lucy indeed looks great for a dying Dog and it's so difficult to see the Aging of Pets and People with all that health baggage taking it's grueling toll.
