I am not a happy woman, despite having walks in the woods and lunch with a friend yesterday.  I even finished a baby quilt yesterday, which did make me happy yesterday, but today I checked Katie's bank account, and she was short changed by $200.  Our incompetent, cruel government is stealing money from disabled people.  Why?  Because they can.  Apparently they can do whatever the fuck they want.  Even if you jump through all their hoops.  I tried calling the AISH office but had to hang up because I couldn't stop crying.

I talked to a lovely lady at Canada Disability Benefit who assured me that I can reapply on Katie's behalf when I have her trusteeship sorted out, in the next year.  Some asshole on instagram called me a sandbagger when I complained ( I had to look up what that meant and basically it means trump).  So I gave that man a piece of my mind and told him he should do something useful with his life like volunteering with disabled people.

Now I get to write emails to AISH, Jason Nixon, and Danielle Smith, because I haven't done that enough in the last nine months.  And I have to do it without expletives.  Is that even possible when dealing with despicable government?

On the upside I did use the 5-4-3-2-1 mindfulness method that is hanging on the fridge to remind me and Jack about how to deal with stress, anxiety, and anger.  It helped.  Note to self, keep using this with Jack.

Off to write emails because talking to someone in person is too difficult and makes me cry.

    1. Disabled people often get the shaft by governments, but not on my watch.

  2. This is so wrong and so difficult for you. It's like living in a red State. I'm very sorry you're enduring all this and still being active in defending Katie's rights.

You've reminded me I need to ask why, as soon as the fed gov started giving the disabled $200/month, Emil's sheltered workshop startes charging him $200/month for "transportation." I thought he was already paying for that. Maybe not. I'm too trusting. And it's such a hassle to deal with this extra crap when taking care of Emil's and Katie's business is already taxing. At least the Saskatchewan govt hasnt done what the Alberta govt is doing. But it wont surprise me if it does.-Kate

    1. Coincidence? I think not. The Sask government just figured out a different way of taking the money.

  4. From yesterday's post I learned a new thing, fifth disease. What an odd name for a virus. I had never heard of it. Your government sounds about as bad as the red states here. I don't suppose they'll restore the unpaid funds retroactively.

    1. There were six childhood diseases that often caused rashes and fevers, hence the name. Our government is a nightmare.

  5. I am so sorry that you are dealing with all of this. The Alberta government sounds kind of like Texas.

    1. The Alberta government is filled with assholes who say they support individual freedoms, but not really. Not at all.

  6. I just hate hearing how things are happening in Canada. NO! We need you all to be our shining light in the north! And to know that you have to deal with all of this with all of the other very real and very difficult things you're going through angers me.

    1. It angers me too but I'm better tonight. I did hear from AISH today after sending off an email to the Premier, a Minister, and my MLA. They said they would look into it. I should hope so. The last time they tried this I got the media involved. Government picks on disabled woman, video at 6pm.

  8. Awful. Just awful.
However, your quilt is truly beautiful. Any baby would be lucky to get it.

  10. Well, that's infuriating. And I hear your extremist element in Alberta is still trying to secede!

    1. The extremist element is too stupid to understand that they can't do what they want to do. Not only with the constitution allow it, but it would be an expensive nightmare.

  12. I don't suppose it was some kind of theft, but just incompetence and a lack of care with someone else's money. I wonder when contacting the same person or department you keep the email trail intact so that it becomes obvious that a problem is not being either addressed and or solved, as the email just gets longer.

    1. No, it was theft. The federal government started giving disabled people $200/month and the provincial government decided they wanted it.
I also keep all the emails and print them out:)

  13. As if you haven't had enough to cope with Nurse Pixie! Now you are obliged to fight for the funding that is rightfully attached to Katie. It's her money. The bastards!

  14. How frustrating and infuriating! And now they are going to nickel-and-dime low-income seniors too by cutting off some of them from their supplement. Vicious bastards.

  15. Your anger and frustration are well justified, but that's no consolation. What our government and yours are doing to people in need is contrary to everything I learned about how to be a kind and compassionate human. I'm disgusted with all of them! I hope you can work things out for Katie and get her assistance back. The steps meme is very fitting though.

  16. It's just as complicated and convoluted here in the U.S. to get Services for the Seriously Disabled or destitute. That Troll who criticized you I guarantee has NO point of reference to draw upon. When it's them then they get a fresh revelation and some actual experience of what it's like, until it's them they tend to have no compassion and not real experiences so they presume a lot, not based on facts, just their opinions... and everyone has those, just like everyone has an Asshole but some people ARE Assholes. *Winks* They're cutting Services further in this Country and giving to the Obscenely Rich while taking from the Poor/Disabled/Sick/Dying. If there is a Hell may they all burn in it.
