It's cold and snowing today.  I think I will stay put.  This photo is a slough at the dog park.  What you can't see, but what the broken ice may tell you, is that a poor greyhound fell through the ice and ended up traumatized and shivering.  Poor dog, it had good people taking care of it though.  A few years ago Heidi fell off the ice into a mountain lake and scared the crap out of me.  There was no way for her to get out of the water as there was an ice shelf.  She's 75lbs and I just looked at her terrified face, grabbed her by the  collar and hauled her out of the water.  I got her back to the car as quickly as possible, dried her off and cranked the heat.  We all survived.

I've been busy this morning.  I made an online complaint to the cyberfraud department of the Government of Canada with regards to the bait and switch of the clothing company.  I also initiated a dispute between my bank card and the company.  And then I went to Shopify and requested they erase my personal data.  Then I emailed the company again, told them what I had done and requested a paid shipping label to return the clothes.  Fuckers!

My tomatoes are coming up well, as well as all of the other seeds that I planted.  The cat is very irritated with me this morning and keeps meowing at me, convinced I am in control of the weather.  I'm also working on a baby quilt for my friend's grandchild.  I think it will turn out very nice.

Muffins have been made and supper will be made soon.  I keep crying this morning, but am convinced it's the coversyl.  I'm not depressed, which is good.

Jack enjoyed his first day at outdoor camp yesterday.  They did many things, including learning how to build a fire.  They of course roasted marshmallows and he finally ate his first roasted marshmallow.

I first heard this song a few months ago and want to share it here.  It's a powerful song.

Update.  I just received an email from the company and they are happy to provide me with a full refund, don't bother sending the clothing back (I don't want to keep it though).

  1. So glad Jack enjoyed his camp day. And the marshmallow.
A long time ago my dog, trotting around town as dogs used to, fell through the ice on the pond and was hauled out and brought home by a neighbor, wrapped up and seemingly fine, even pleased with his adventure. I wasn't!

    1. The look on poor Heidi's face when she ended up in the icy water. It would be horrendous watching a dog drown. I'm so glad your neighbor rescued your dog.

  2. Wow. That song.
Love that photo, you really got the "real" sense of it across.

    1. I love that song and there are a lot of videos of young women just singing the refrain. Very powerful.

  3. Perhaps you could donate the clothing? Someone might want to wear it. That's great about Jack and the camp; their reactions to activities like that can be unpredictable. I couldn't believe that Sharky could enjoy whole days of building Legos during the summer, but he did. I would have been terrified by a dog falling into the icy water. Hopefully, I would react as quickly and well as you did.

    1. I will donate the clothing to the Salvation Army. It's never been worn.
Jack loves his Lego and he just found an old set of my husband's that includes motors and robotics. Heaven!

  4. I forgot to put in my actual blog address which I have to do every time. It probably doesn't matter since you know where I am. :)

  5. OMG, I got caught with one of those Chinese clothing scams. The dress could be described as nothing more than a rag. No details on envelope to return it. Then when I googled the company, 1000’s and 1000’s of bad reviews. Now I check reviews before buying anything. Even the postman had no regard for it, I’ve got him on the cctv throwing it at my door from about 20 metres 😂. Marie, Melbourne, Australia

  6. When one of my lads wanted to return and receive a refund from Temu, he was told the same thing, and the money was immediately refunded. Dogs falling off ice is not a problem we have.

    1. It's just such a waste of material, of energy, of time. That's what bothers me the most.

  7. I've heard more stories than I would want to about these Chinese shop scams. I fell for one during COVID ordering masks.
In solidarity I have also decided to stay in today.

  8. I'm glad Jack is enjoying the camp, and that they refunded your money for the clothes. The side effects of the coversyl suck!

    1. Poor Jack is home sick today but that's not a bad thing. It's very cold today outside, and snowing.
I'm glad they're refunding the money but it makes me sad that they're ripping so many people off.

  9. Well done on standing your ground with that clothing company. Could you cut the fabric up for quilting (or at the very least, making rags)?

    1. I'm getting my money back but the site is still up and running, scamming more people.
The fabric is too horrible for rags or quilting. I'll donate them.

  10. Kudos to you for taking on the internet clothing company. I am glad you are getting a refund. With spring in full swing here in Virginia, I forget that winter is still around. Your photo looks COLD. I would have been scared to death if one of my dogs had fallen like Heidi did.

    1. Heidi survived. She's a tough old dog from northern Saskatchewan. She's old now and still loves rolling in the snow.

  11. You are a powerful adversary! It's good Jack enjoyed himself. I think of the women in my neighborhood in the 50s and 60s. No choices, no car during the day, no money of their own. Trapped. No wonder there were so many angry women.

    1. There are still angry women. I was trapped with three children, unable to leave because of Katie.

  13. Well, I'm glad you're getting a refund! They must be sending refunds to everybody who buys their stuff. I don't know how they're making any money.

That poor greyhound! And greyhounds are sensitive to cold because they don't have much body fat, as I understand it. That dog must have really been feeling the chill.

    1. I imagine most people just take them up on their 10% discount, they still keep 90% of the money and it adds up over time. Scamming 20,000 for $90 a piece adds up to $1.8 million. Lucrative.
That poor dog. I imagine he got home and was given a warm bath.

  15. Jack having his 1st Roasted Marshmallow was indeed Special... how did he like it? That Ice looks treacherous and I'm glad the Dog was okay after falling thru. *Whew*
