It's snowing here, although it's supposed to be above freezing next week. I took Charlie out for a walk yesterday and slipped on some ice, unseen under the fresh snow. I landed on my ass and my right elbow, nothing broken thankfully, but everything on my right side is sore today. As mum would say, fool them and live. Two falls in one week, it's like I'm going for some kind of record.
Jack is getting his covid and flu vaccinations this morning. He's not a fan of needles but I'll use some EMLA cream to make it easier for him. I forsee a weekend of watching movies for us.
Thanks to Debbie, I found these memes which bring me so much joy. Have a safe weekend.

Ow! Maybe time to get out the yaktrax? I love the picture memes. I totally agree that recipes should show the cleanup and all the tools you end up using, as full transparency. One time I blogged about this, showing the sink packed with gadgets and bowls, as a friendly alert to anyone planning in the recipe. It looked so simple on the page.
ReplyDeleteI have boots that have crystals in the soles which are anti-slip and which usually work well, but not the other day. I have something similar to yaktrax but I can't stand the sound of them on bare sidewalks:)
DeleteVery nice photos! Ouch, that was a pain in the butt. Sorry, couldn't help it. The memes....I'm kinda the last one.
ReplyDeleteI discovered that there are fine art memes. Who knew?
DeleteOh yeah, the clean-up is an important consideration! Sometimes making the dish just isn't worth the effort!
ReplyDeleteAnd P.S. -- love your photo of the frosty maple keys!
DeleteI don't like a big mess in my kitchen either and it is an important consideration, especially with limited space and time.
DeleteBe careful, we in this part of the planet believe in the rule of threes.
ReplyDeleteMy mum believed that too. Hopefully whatever happens next isn't awful:)
DeleteAs someone who routinely detangles her headphones I love the last one. Sorry you fell. Reminds me it’s time to get out the serious Winter tread boots.
ReplyDeleteMarly
Funny thing is, I had my serious winter tread boots on.
DeleteYou must be more careful. The fresh snow covering the garden looks nice...and cold. Yes, photos of the kitchen after the food is cooked would be a good idea. I'm a very tidy cook but my lads are not.
ReplyDeleteI like to clean up as I go as much as possible, sometimes that works out and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I leave the pots until the morning.
DeleteNo, I am the human version of tangled headphones! LOL
ReplyDeletePlease be careful. I was the queen of falls last year. PT told me "Be mindful", with me it's my left footstep which doesn't raise as high as I intend. I am pretty nervous about ice this year.
I'm nervous about the ice too.
DeleteDoes your doctor ask you at your annual appointment whether you've fallen? Mine did last year and I had tripped over a planter which she said was OK. Ice is a good reason too! (but OUCH) I agree about the clean up and have always winced over that "make you stronger" quote. I am strong enough!
ReplyDeleteI'm strong enough too, the universe can stop sending me lessons:)
DeleteI don't think a doc has ever asked me about falls, yet.
Yes, please be careful. I can't afford to fall so I've given up taking walks in winter. (I do exercise inside.)
ReplyDeleteI love walking, and so do the dogs, but I can't see it becoming more difficult as I age.
DeleteYikes! Ice is treacherous. Beautiful photos. Laughter carries the day.
ReplyDeleteLaughter is always the best medicine:)
DeleteBe careful out there! It sure is looking snowy where you are.
ReplyDeleteTangled headphones -- a pet peeve of mine. Thank god for wireless AirPods! (Which has nothing to do with the meme, really, but that's what sprang to mind. :) )
When we were on holidays with Jack I spent a lot of time untangling his headphones, not enjoyable.
DeleteI love the photo. I can relate to the memes as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks:)
DeleteI enjoyed the memes!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there were fine art memes. I love them!
DeleteTwo falls? Maybe you should invest in a foam rubber sumo wrestler costume. That way - when you fall over - you will always be uninjured.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your helpful advice Mr. Pudding:)
DeleteI am thinking of my husband up there in that snow and ice with his very, very bad balance and unsteady gait and hoping like hell he doesn't take a bad fall.
ReplyDeleteI know he's loving the cold, though.
Glen is going to be out in field though and that hurts way less when you fall on it. Concrete sucks to fall on.
DeleteIt's warm today 14C (57F) here. I'm just finishing up my last bit of yard work.
