I'm fine, just busy with Jack because of the teachers strike.

We walked the dogs this morning and he brought his scooter along for the walk with Heidi.  He's growing like a week I've noticed.

I took him to the teacher's rally this morning to show him what a protest looks like, and what the teachers and Albertans are fighting the government about.  I told him that all the people there want public education to be better for all the kids in Alberta.  He was interested until he saw some e-scooters lying on the ground and then his conversation veered off to alcohol and the behaviors of people when they're drunk.

He found an old costume in the basement while we were looking for Halloween decorations.

Lots of walking while the weather is nice.

  1. I remember what it was like to homeschool grandkids during covid. It is a long day. I always support teachers. I can't imagine a classroom full with all this energy. They are saints.

    1. I could never be a teacher. I couldn't take the noise or the constant interupptions. They are indeed saints.

  2. He's such a dear little guy. Yes, I expect he also has his moments, but I love him in these pictures.

  3. Jack does look tall! I think Sharky is tending to be short, at least compared to his classmates. You're doing some wonderful things! I love being outside in nice fall weather.

    1. He seems to sprouting up right now. We're spending as much time outside as we can right now, winter is long.

  6. All life is learning - or maybe the other way round?, you are giving him the best education.

  7. That first photo reminds me of home in the Adirondacks of NY State. Those kind of birch trees don't grow here in central Virginia. Wow, this strike has lasted a long time. Are all of the teachers in Alberta on strike or is it just your locale? That walking trail is something I wish I had where I live.

    1. All of the teachers in the province, 51,000 are on strike right now. It's been two weeks and our useless excuse for a provincial government wants to continue on. They really don't give a shit about what Albertans want, it's only about the premier's ideology.

  8. You are such a good grandmother caretaker. There should be another name, another word for what you and your husband are doing with and for Jack. Perhaps simply Grand Parents because that is what you are.

  9. Your walkways are beautiful with the Fall colors!
What a shame Jack has such an early education on the behavior of drunks!
Yes, he is growing like a weed ... every week!

    1. Apparently, children as young as two years old can tell when their parents have been drinking. He's had years of experience sadly.

  10. He is tall. We expect a lot from teachers while they get so little in return. I hope they prevail.

    1. That top photo is a pathway between houses and it's only about two blocks long, but it has lots of trees which is what I love.

  12. I didn't realize that strike was still going on! It's been a while, hasn't it?! Good idea to show Jack what a protest looks like, even if he did get sidetracked. Maybe he'll grow up to be a campaigner for justice. :)

    1. The strike has gone on for two weeks now, all of the teachers in the province, 51,000 teachers which means more than one million students. Our government doesn't care but things are getting uncomfortable for them:)
