It rained here on the weekend, I can't even remember what day now, but then it started snowing. As you can see, the snow was able to pile up on everything and it's beautiful. It truly does look like what you would imagine a winter wonderland would look like. I took Heidi to the off leash yesterday, leaving Charlie at home (because he's a dick I told him). She and I had an amazing walk.
Jack has his Christmas concert today. He said, "You can't come because you don't know the words to the song." I told him I was not going to sing, just watch him sing. Then he said, "You can come." The other night I gave him a few small cookies for his dessert and I grabbed one out of his bowl before I gave it to him. He said, "How dare you!". And last week, as he's walking around and around the kitchen island, while I'm doing dishes, he looks at me and says, "What the hippocampus?" and then he adds, for my benefit apparently, "It's in the brain."
This is the same kid that can't find the remote that he put on the couch beside him.
I hope the antibiotics do the trick for Miss Katie. Have fun at Jack's Christmas concert today, and use the Hippocampus in your Brain to remember DON'T SING!
ReplyDeleteThe concert was lovely, and short. Fifteen minutes which was perfect, and only the kindergarten kids.
DeleteI hope Katie improves; that is worrisome! It's awful to be in pain. :( Jack is a bright little guy! We're all guilty of looking right through things. There have been times when I've searched for my car keys after putting them in my pocket. Yikes. I love that beautiful snow although you can keep it there! LOL
ReplyDeleteShe seems better today, she's with her dad. He took her to her dentist appointment.
DeleteI’m an amateur painter in Tennessee and am asking permission to use the above photo to paint. Will that be okay with you?
ReplyDeleteSure, and thanks for asking.
DeleteEnjoy your winter wonderland!
ReplyDeletePoor Katie. You are, without a doubt, the person best qualified on this earth to know what might be behind new behaviors and how to treat them.
Jack is becoming quite the funny guy, isn't he? I love it when kids get into that stage.
Jack has quite the sense of humour and a quite extensive vocabulary. My daughter suggested I teach him to use the word obnoxious when he doesn't like something. As in, that's obnoxious. I asked her if she wanted him to get beat up by the other kids:)
DeleteIt's snowing again today, colder, but still beautiful. And Katie, we just have to wait and see if the new drug helps or not.
I hope that the antibiotics do the trick. I saw that you had written a response to a comment that Katie is doing better. I hope the trend continues. Those winter photos are absolutely beautiful. I grew up in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State and your winter photos remind me of home.
ReplyDeleteI always moan and bitch when it first starts snowing, but I do love it. It's so beautiful when it's snowing.
DeleteAbsolutely beautiful snow scenes.
ReplyDeleteJack can't be expected to know about huge African animals.
Katie's health issues sound so challenging for her and you.
The funny thing is that Jack is learning, "I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas". I have no idea where the hippocampus question came from.
DeleteIt's so hard for Katie because she is nonverbal and I'm not even sure if she understands where her pain comes from.
Poor Katie. UTIs are horrible enough without being able to express what's going on. Jack is a smart kid. I'd love to know where he heard about the hippocampus - not many adults have heard of it!
ReplyDeleteKatie seemed better yesterday. She was eating, no crying or screaming.
DeleteAnd Jack, no idea where he learned about the hippocampus:)
Those snow scenes are peaceful and gorgeous. I hope the antibiotics work.
ReplyDeleteIt's so peaceful when it snows, the blanket of snow muffles all of the sounds. I hope the antibiotics work too. She was better yesterday.
DeleteHopefully the antibiotics will help with your daughter's UTI - at least. As for the hippocampus, what an excellent observation!
ReplyDeleteI love your winter wonderland and I feel a great sense of relief knowing that I do not have to walk through it home from school ever again.
I like walking in the snow, as long as there isn't ice underneath. Last winter though, I got a pair of boots that are antislip and they work well.
DeleteI tend to give him medical explanations to questions he asks about blood, organs, brains, etc, but the hippocampus has never come up. Too funny.
Poor Katie, I do hope the antibiotics work and she can get some relief!
ReplyDeleteThe antibiotics have been working thankfully, but not the new antipsychotic med.
DeleteWith Katie it must be frustrating and distressing for her, for you and for her carers when she cannot explain her symptoms. Jack proves that children of that age can say the most surprising and funny things.
ReplyDeleteKatie breaks my heart from time to time, right now is one of those times. I can't imagine how she keeps going, every day trying to get people to understand her.
