I've been writing here for almost ten years and before that there were other blogs where I wrote for about another ten years.  I even went to a blog conference many years ago in Chicago.  My blog was called tired mummy and it was about taking care of Katie.  When I told people at the conference the name of my blog, their eyes glazed over and they found an excuse to wander away, except for one or two people.  One woman I met was wonderful; she felt like one of those people you've always known.  She was familiar.  We kept in touch for awhile, but life.  I wonder what happened to her.  She had a son name Roan who must be fully grown now.

I think it's time to take a break for awhile from blogging.  I will probably still read blogs and maybe even leave comments but something's changed for me, not sure what, but blogging has become work instead of an outlet for me.

  2. I will echo Rosemarie. Please do for yourself what must be done and also know that if you ever want to post a catch-up or anything at all, we will be here to read it.
    Love you.

  4. As with anything else, when it becomes a chore, time to get rid (if you can). So enjoy your break and I hope to read you again soon.

  6. Take care of yourself. Removing one thing out of the day makes more space for you. We'll be here if you come back.

  8. I agree that blogging should never be work. Yuck. There's enough work around as it is! Enjoy your break and I hope you'll return to the blogosphere sometime!

  12. Take a much-needed break from the blog!
You have enough on your plate dealing with Grace, your son, Katie, and Jack. And ... trying to get yourself back to work!
Yes, you definitely need a break! ❤🌹

  16. So long as you keep in touch somehow, because all these readers care about you. Even an occasional update when the mood strikes! But by all means, when blogging becomes a burden rather than a pleasure, kick it to the curb.

I've been blogging a lot of years too; 25 I think. My favourite blogs to read were always the dailies, where I knew I'd never be disappointed when I went there to check in. So that was my aim: to blog every day, even if it wasn't much. And also to blog as if I really was writing in a private journal. Those aims fell to the wayside after a while, as things do grow and change and become something other than they started out as, and that's okay.
If ever the day comes when I've no urge to write my little "letter out," I'll wave it a happy goodbye; actually I'll probably just forget to do it! It isn't a job, and when it begins to feel like one ... we can't have that.
Meanwhile I wonder what else you'll do with the time you'll free up.

  17. I've mostly been a lurker, but a faithful one. I can only echo what other people have said. I'll miss you and your thoughts, and I have found following your life to be inspirational. Be well, and good luck, and I hope at some point you find it good to return to blogging.

  24. You have a lot on your plate. If blogging has simply become a chore, you need to take that break. If your blogging mojo comes back, you can always pick it again. Take care of yourself.
