Yesterday I worked at the rental, painting and pulling up flooring.  I think the wall colour turned out nicely.  It's a soft grey which will be a shade lighter in the bathroom.  We're still waiting for the contractor to come back and pull up all the old flooring and put in the new flooring.  I had some anger issues around Jack yesterday so hard work was in order.  I felt much better afterwards.

We're taking Jack to the mountains in June for the first time, so we wanted him to have some experience eating in a restaurant.  With the pandemic, he hasn't gotten much practice.  We went to IHOP which I think he thought was not a real name, because why would you call a restaurant I Hop.  We hopped into the place and he did well.  He's always happy to be with his poppa and poppa is always happy to be with him.

I had to take Katie to the doctor's this morning, just for a check up and blood reqs, nothing bad.  She did well and was just so happy.  She still sees the same doctor who delivered her thirty years ago, which means I've been going to my doctor for over thirty years.  We also stopped at the dog park to watch the dogs and got ice cream after her visit.  Then we stopped at the grocery store to buy a helium filled balloon.  She was a happy girl.

I left Heidi out of her kennel because we keep trying to trust her out of her kennel when we're out.  Sometimes she's okay and sometimes she's not.  I never did find all the pieces of either the rabbit or the army man.  I'm guessing they'll turn up in the backyard at some point, covered in dog poop:)

Jack starts swimming lessons again tomorrow which he'll enjoy and which we'll enjoy watching.  I don't have to go in the water this time.  We'll probably go out for a long walk too because it's sunny and all the snow has melted again.  It's beautiful out and my bulbs are starting to burst out of the ground.  I can't wait for my flowers.  They make me happy.

  1. Uh-oh. Dogs can be hell on toys, can't they?
I like that color gray. Is that the flooring you're taking up or putting down? It looks good.
Jack at the IHOP. Did he get pancakes? He'd fit right in with my grands.

    1. That's the floor we're taking up. It's very cheap hardwood and can't be sanded down. It was also very warped from the toilet overflowing for a week.

Jack didn't get pancakes. He got fries and chicken fingers which he didn't eat. He ate off of poppa's plate.

  2. Yay for flowers starting toward blooming! I love watching the progress. Gray is a very serene color and goes with most every other color, so I have a lot of it in my home. Beautiful photo of your guys!

  3. I love your wall color - it is serene. It's too bad the flooring has to go, it's really pretty.
Bulbs really are magic. My tulip bloomed, someone else planted it. Maybe I'll put some more in the ground later.
That is a darling picture of Jack and the hubs.

    1. The flooring is crap really, badly stained and warped, as well as cheap.

I can't wait to see all my bulbs. I never get around to planting any in the fall and last fall I remembered.

    1. I'm guessing he'll love it. He loves being outdoors. There are lakes and creeks and mountains and so much to see. Hopefully he will be exhausted each night:)

  6. What a wonderful adventure for Jack. Our dogs know when they've chewed something they shouldn't. You just have to show them and they hide with their tails between their legs.

    1. Heidi doesn't even hide and I'm sure she doesn't understand. She's the most wonderful dog, except for this one flaw.

  8. I like your wall colouring too - and the floor also looks lovely. Such a shame it got ruined by neglect. And isn't Jack growing up!! A handsome little soul!

    1. It got ruined because Gracie was flushing baby wipes down the toilet for months and when the toilet backed up and started overflowing she didn't do anything about it for a week.

  10. He's growing up so fast. When we told him we were taking him to Gracie's this afternoon and he yelled No and hid in his bedroom. Fucking hell.

  11. Oh that Baby is growing into such a Handsome Big Boy so fast! Glad Miss Katie is Joyful and had a nice outing even if it did involve some Wellness Doctor stuff. I had to laugh at the condition of the Toys in that last Image...

    1. There has been such a change in Katie since she moved to a new agency and started on valproic acid four years ago. It's like I have my girl back.

  13. I know that plastics have brought humanity many benefits but often I wish that it had never been invented - especially when it ends up in the bellies of other species. Mind you, they say that microplastics are now inside all of us... like a ticking time bomb.
P.S. Thank you for your well-informed advice re. my brother Simon's perilous situation. Much appreciated.

    1. When I think about plastic, when I bug anything plastic, I am reminded that every piece of plastic that I have ever used in my lifetime, still exists and it makes me feel awful. I try so hard to reduce my footprint, reusing and reducing but it never feels like enough. And then I see others who just don't care.

    1. Jack loves being outside. He loves running and just loves looking at everything. In the back yard he wanders around, checking everything out. The mountains will be awesome for him.

  15. I am planning to get a job, but I admit the idea of one chewing everything up distresses me.

  16. We have two dogs. One never chews anything and the other, sometimes chews things but only plush or plastic toys, and randomly.
