On Monday it was 23C and then yesterday it started snowing and it's still snowing.  Sigh.  As you can see I was hopeful enough to put out a couple of chairs on Monday.  It will end, the weather will warm up.

My husband discovered a site that offers free 3D printable instructions for pottery rollers.  I immediately went through the site and he is now printing off a lot of rollers for me, which I deeply appreciate.  I started this casserole dish on Wednesday in class but two hours is not enough time, so I brought it home and worked on it yesterday morning.  I did a few more touch ups this morning but I'm mostly satisfied with it.  I don't like that you can see the seam but that just means I have more to learn.  It will end up either blue or green, there are not a lot of choices for glaze at my class, at least not a lot of choices that I like:)

I got the baby quilt back last night and now I just have to add the binding.  I hope to finish it today because my friend's daughter is coming to visit this weekend and I would like for her to have it now.

I saw my counselor again yesterday and I like her.  We're close to the same age and she has a different perspective, a gentler, more compassionate perspective than I do.

Katie had a meltdown last Monday, pooped her pants, acted out, and was complaining of pain.  The staff cleaned her up and gave her pain meds.  There is a pattern!  I didn't get attacked, and Katie didn't have to go to emergency for pain meds.  A win.  I'm taking her for an ultrasound on Monday and we'll see what that tells us about her cysts.  She's good now and I'll take her out for lunch on Sunday.

I had an ultrasound on Wednesday.  I've had a lump on my clavicle for almost a year and now it feels like something is pressing into my esophagus.  There is something pressing into my esophagus, but it's just synovial hypertrophy, an overgrowth of the lining of my sternoclavicular joint, caused by arthritis.  One I didn't know that was a thing, and two, I didn't know that you could get arthritis there.  The learning never ends:)

I've been practicing "how to deal with big emotions" and I've done a lot of jumping jacks.  I received a letter yesterday from the government about Katie and her AISH payments.  I'm not done yet though.

Life continues on, good and bad, beautiful and ugly, it just is.  And because I love dad jokes, may I present this one.

  1. Arthritis is so pervasive! Still, I'm glad that the bump was benign. I'm glad that Katie's medical problems are being dealt with and her pain managed. Snow!! We have a freeze warning tonight but sunny 60s during the day. No precipitation in the forecast which is a mixed blessing. I'll have to water!

    1. I'm a nurse and I had no idea a person could get arthritis there. So much for my education:)
It's still snowing but the quilt is almost done.

  2. I'm glad the bump was nothing more sinister than rotten old arthritis. You're a talented potter, and I see no seam, just a lovely dish. I think your chairs caused the snowfall.

    1. I blame the chairs as well:) And mother nature of course. We're in the middle of a mother nature swirlie, she just keeps turning about us and it's still snowing, but that's so supposed to end this evening.

  3. I love impressions on clay! Your casserole dish looks great! And how cool that your husband can make 3D printed pottery rollers for you! I hope you get some answers from Katie's ultrasound on Monday.

    1. I don't know if you can tell what the pattern is, but it's a Celtic knot, which I also have on my engagement ring. An ode to my Irish ancestors.
I hope we get some answers from her US as well.

  4. I like the way you've decorated the casserole dish.
3D printing of rollers sounds challenging, but then I don't know about 3D printing.

    1. 3D printing isn't hard, you send the information to the printer, the printer has a spool of plastic filament, and the printer makes whatever you tell it to. Easy, peasy.

  5. I had to look up sternoclavicular joint. Good Lord, who would have guessed arthritis? As if we needed another reminder how old we are getting. I love the pottery and am so glad you are doing it. ❤️

    1. I honestly had no idea it was possible either. I suppose if you can have arthritis in your toes (I do), you can have it in any joint.
I want to do more pottery than I'm able to do at my class and I'm looking at signing up to a nearby studio.

  6. I love that picture of you on the porch. I'm so sorry about Sam and what you are both going through. Scary and sad. I'm still sending love and prayers. ❤️

  8. It is good that you found a counselor that you like. I went to counseling once, and I couldn't stand the counselor for a myriad of reasons. Needless to say, the counseling went nowhere for me. Sorry about the arthritis...getting old isn't for the weak. I went to the back doctor this week and he thinks part of my problem is arthritis as well. I go for an MRI in a few days.

    1. I've been to many, many counselors, some good, some useless, but I like this woman and I don't feel like a piece of shit when I leave her office.
      Backs get arthritis too:)

  9. WE ARE NOT MEANT TO LIVE THIS LONG! I swear. That's our problem. We are now able, though better nutrition and medical science, to live much longer lives than our ancestors did but our joints and eyes and hearts and brains and ...well, everything, haven't quite gotten the message that our sell-by dates have been extended.
    It's a conundrum.

    2. It's true that modern medicine has prolonged life, for those who have access to better nutrition and doctors, but yes, we still die. However, I want to hang on until Jack is grown:) I'm working on my joint health and muscle strength, but I can do more.
Thanks, about the dish, I love it. Finally a casserole dish that I love. This is fifth one I've made, so I am improving.

  10. I like the casserole dish. Liking the therapist is an important start. It too me a couple of beats to get the dad joke. Duh!

  11. The 3D-printed pottery rollers are a great idea! Technology is amazing sometimes. (When it cooperates.) Hope you get closer to a solution for Katie's tantrums, and I'm with you on the sternoclavicular joint. I had no idea such a thing existed. Snow! Ugh!

    1. Katie's meltdowns are related to pain from her ovarian cysts which act up at a particular time in her menstrual cycle.
It's still snowing but at least the wind has stopped.

So far this morning it's not snowing here, but it is in Saskatoon, so I won't be surprised if it's here sometime today.
And then it will all melt so fast there will be flooding. There already is, in at least one community in the vicinity.
Oh well. It is what it is. There's always spring flooding somewhere in this country.

ps your visitor counter always shows my arrival from someplace (always different) in BC instead of Saskatchewan

    1. That's weird that it shows you someplace other than Saskatchewan. No very accurate then:)
It's still snowing here but the wind has really died down. We've had about 2 inches of snow but there has been so much blowing that there are deep drifts on the sidewalks.

  14. dear me! I came by for a look-see and snow greets me! It was actually comforting as allergies are in full bloom and some snow would knock the nonsense off.

    1. I could do without the comfort of the snow. Strangely enough, snow mold is a problem here, causing a lot of allergies in the spring time. Who knew?
