Despite the cooler weather, the coleus and petunias are doing well. I picked the peppers today, jalapenos, scorpions and ghost peppers. I'm not eating them. The carrots are still in the planters and I'll wait on them for a bit. The maple tree that I planted in the spring is very happy and I'm looking forward to the leaves changing color.
We still don't know when Jack is coming home. The big guy and I tossed around the idea of driving out there to get him. It's a ten hour drive each way. We'd have to take both the dogs with us too. Jack still has a daycare to go to, so we could bring him home and take him to daycare in the North End. It would be a lot of driving but we've done that before. We'll see.
My life so far.
Your garden is so beautiful. I enjoy looking out into it every year. Looking forward to seeing the maple tree change color. The hand embroidered patch, made with love, touched my heart. Your work is adding love to love. I hope Jack comes home to you soon, one way or the other.
ReplyDeleteI think about the woman who must have hand embroidered those panels. My mum did a lot of embroidery when she was laid up for a year. I think Jack is coming back next week, fingers crossed.
DeleteI hope Jack gets back to you soon. He must miss you terribly. I have my fingers tightly crossed that Gracie is doing the right thing by him.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt resurrections are gorgeous. Make sure that whoever gets them knows the full story.
We've never spent this much time apart from Jack. I'll make sure the quilt goes to the right person.
DeleteYour quilting looks good. I used to do a lot of crib quilts and would quilt them on the sewing machine. They were flannel and heavy. Your back yard is just delightful, really pretty.
ReplyDeleteThanks, we love the backyard too. One of the reasons we bought this place.
DeleteI hope you have been able to be in contact with Jack or a reliable adult to make sure he is OK. I hope he gets home soon!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are gorgeous ... especially your coleus!
The more you work on the quilting projects the better you will get ... each one gets easier!
We video call Jack every other night and he's doing well but he missed his poppa.
DeleteThat looks like a professional garden! I would spend every minute I could out there! I hope Jack is doing OK and that he gets home with you soon. Very worrisome.
ReplyDeleteI imagine the people who used to own the house had a professional gardener make up a plan for them. I've amended things over the last six years but the bones remain the same.
DeleteGosh, yes, the list goes on.
ReplyDeleteI'm grounded right now. Not allowed to do much except rest my foot, per the big guy.
DeleteThose embroidered panels reminded you of me because I love things like that! Don't worry about messing anything up. Just go for it!
ReplyDeleteAnd perhaps y'all should go for Jack, too. Get him home so you can stop worrying.
I have to tell you that you have an amazing eye for beauty and your garden shows that!
Jack should be home next week.
DeleteI think your quilt looks great! And yes, as Ms. Moon said -- although I hate the fact that you have to drive all that way, it would make you feel better. The garden looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve. I planted a lot of clover this year so I'm looking forward to what it will look like next year and I'm trying to let the garden get wilder. You're an inspiration.
DeleteYour garden is beautiful! I will add to the others, perhaps you should get Jack.
ReplyDeleteI talked to his grandma this morning and he should be back next week.
DeleteI thought that about the garden too - it's just lovely isn't it!
DeleteI have a similar problem when asked what I did on any given day spent at home. Even when there is nothing tangible to show for it, I know I have been almost constantly on the move, picking something up, moving something, putting something away, doing this, doing that ... tidying, sorting, wiping, refilling, emptying ... it makes me realize how much of her time and energy my mom put into keeping our home so orderly, pleasant, and welcoming. It was work that was never noticed, at least by me, at the time. Plus she sewed (most of our clothes when we were small), baked bread and sweets, quilted, and made full-course meals for lunch and supper. I wish I'd had the good sense to appreciate at the time how nice she made our lives. -Kate
