Charlie and I on a walk around some wetlands.  He was busy eating salad/grass.

Silver buffaloberry has the tiniest little flowers with the most lovely scent. The flowers are easy to miss.

Some irises I found on my walk today.

I worked on Jack's tree fort this past week and managed to get all the floor done.  I had to take apart the old shed and then cut the boards to the right length.  I got to use the mitre saw and the power drill.  Have I mentioned how much I love power tools?

The fort still needs railings and a roof but Jack likes it.  He's planning on installing wifi and a fridge:)

I only had two minor injuries during the whole demoliton and construction, a bruise on my hand when a piece of wood jumped on the saw, and an abrasion on my forehead when the shed hit me while I was pulling it over.  To add to that, I fell in the downstairs bathroom the other morning and gave myself a goose egg on the side of my head.  There was a lot of screaming and crying, but just the goose egg really.  Scared the shit out of my hubby and Jack.

My last pottery class is on Wednesday.  I'm going to miss the classes and the ladies.  I glazed a bunch of stuff this morning and have two things left to glaze that require a lighter touch, so they'll be done on Wednesday.  It takes two to three weeks to get our stuff back.

The wind has been blowing for what seems like months, although it's only been weeks.  Not a gentle breeze either.  The other night there was an alert that said the winds could reach speeds of 130km/hr.  Thankfully we didn't get those winds, but the wind wears me out eventually.

Really not a lot going on.  The house is clean, laundry is done (although not folded), bathrooms are clean, and supper is prepped.  Just in time to pick Jack up from daycare.

TACO= trump always chickens out (on tariffs)

  1. I certainly laughed at Jack's treehouse furnishing priorities.
I guess you saw during your career enough power tool injuries to know how much care you need to take.
Buffaloberry is one I don't know. It sounds like a nice plant to have around.

    1. I didn't work in emergency so I didn't see any new injuries, but I've had lots of patients with missing fingers.
Buffaloberry is native to North America. It's usually overlooked I think, but the smell is so sweet.

    1. I enjoy learning new skills and the mitre saw is a new skill. Putting the floor in was like quilting, fitting the pieces in.

  4. Beautiful job on the tree house! I hate hitting my head worse than anything, it hurts too much, makes me angry. Looking forward to seeing the new pottery.

    1. I'm not a fan of hitting my head either, or falling down. I can't wait to see my pottery once it's been glazed and fired.

  5. You did a great job on the treehouse! Mitre saw? Power drill! So butch and I love it! And those Trump memes are great -- I'm doing something similar tomorrow for (wait for it) Taco Tuesday.

    1. That man is a danger to the world.
We used to have testicle Tuesday at work, for testicular cancer. Most of the guys came in on Tuesday for their scans, but then their scan day got changed to Friday and we lost our alliteration.

  6. Love those Taco pictures! I am lost in admiration over the tree house and your work on it. I would never think to tackle a job like that. I would certainly be missing a few fingers if I did! NO falling, please. We can't afford that at our ages.

    1. My husband put up all the framing, I just cut and screwed in the flooring, but I enjoyed it a lot.

  7. I LOVE that tree house already. It's wonderful. And you're much braver than I am with those power tools. I'm betting you look like you've been through the trenches this week though!

  8. I didnt know those are buffaloberry, have always called them silver willow, and agree about the scent from heaven!

Why do I think you will spend more time in the treehouse than anyone! I can see you out there for little getaway breaks -- don't forget to install a woodstove.

  9. It's not a very big treehouse, definitely kid sized.

  10. I am incredibly impressed at your carpentry skills! Power tools for the win! Lady, you slay me.
Please be careful of your head. You do need it.

    1. I try to be careful but have a hard time knowing where my body is in the world (position and movement). I tend to be clumsy.

  11. GREAT job on the tree fort! I'm so impressed! I could never build anything that looked that good. I laughed at Jack's desire to get a fridge up there. A recliner too, maybe? LOL

    1. My husband made all of the base and supports, I just filled in the floor. He wants EVERYTHING in there.

  12. Great job on the tree house!! And obv the photographs.
I am more into the tools that knock down stuff or power clean and/or sand already existing surfaces, I can be mean to a quarter millimeter when knitting but for the life of me never get correct measurements when doing something bigger and with woods or planks or tiles.

    1. Quilting improved my measuring skills, but the fort is far from perfect with regards to cuts:)

  13. That tree house is amazing. In a million years I could never do something like that! You sure have had a lot of dings and bruises of late. Stay safe!

  14. Impressive tree house work so far! I hope you show us it when you have fixed the railings and presumably there will be a little ladder for Jack to climb up.

    1. There is a ladder. I was standing on it to take the photo. Hopefully the railings will be up this weekend. The wifi and fridge will obviously have to wait:)

  15. So how is the goose? Great project. My parents have a tree house (well, it really is more of a fort) in a tree on their property that a lady (who grew up there) remembers playing in well over 40 years ago.

    1. The goose egg is slowly being reabsorbed and doesn't hurt to lie on anymore. I need to attend to the rest of my garden, as it's been ignored while I've been working on the treehouse.
